Unit 2 School life

一、Comic strip and Welcome to the unit．

1．We are cleverer than people．   我们比人类聪明。

2．have to work harder 不得不更努力工作

3．What’s school like?   学校像什么样子?

【重点】 What is ．．． like?   ．．． 怎么样？  （既可以询问外貌，也可以询问人品）

①—-What’s Tom like?         —-He is tall and strong．/ He is kind and helpful．

②—What is the weather like today?    —–It’s sunny．

【区分】 —-What does she look like?   她看起来怎么样？  （只能询问外貌）

—- He is slim and has long hair．

二、Reading

6． ★Learning foreign languages is fun． 学外语是有趣的。【动名词短语作主语，谓语动词单数】

= It is fun to learn foreign languages．

★foreign people = foreigner 外国人

7．a Reading Week 阅读周

8．during the week 在这一周期间

【注：during为介词，接名词、代词或名词性短语。during与in均可表示“在某个时间内”,有时可互换】

9． borrow more books from the school library  从学校图书馆借更多的书

10． bring in books and magazines from home  从家里将书和杂志带进（校园）

三、Grammar

【语法】A．比较事物数量：

1．Millie has more tomatoes than Daniel． 【tomatoes 为可数名词复数,用many的比较级more】

2．Kitty has the most eggs．   【eggs 为可数名词复数,用many的最高级most】

3．Millie has less rice than Daniel．      【rice 为不可数名词,用little的比较级less】

4．Millie has fewer bananas than Kitty．  【bananas 为可数名词复数,用few的比较级fewer】

5．Daniel has the fewest tomatoes．  【tomatoes 为可数名词复数,用few的最高级fewest】

6．Millie has the least juice． 【juice 为不可数名词,用little的最高级least】

【语法】B、副词的比较级与最高级．

 副词的比较级和最高级用法与形容词基本相同，但要注意以下几点：

①形容词的最高级前必须有the, 而副词的最高级前the可以省略。

    Eg:  Tom listens to the teacher (the) most carefully in his class．

②由形容词加ly构成的副词，无论是长还是短，一律比较级加more, 最高级加the most。

    Eg: (the) most slowly/quickly

③注意几个特殊的副词：well–better—best；badly —worse—worst;

      far–farther（具体）/further（抽像）—farthest（具体)/furthest（抽像)

    Eg: for further study为了进一步的学习；for further information 为了进一步的信息

④解题时先考虑用形容词还是副词，再考虑比较级和最高级。

四、Integrated skills

1． come third in the race 在赛跑比赛中排名第三

2．the number of the students 学生的数量   【数量number只能比较大小，不能比多少】

The number of the students in our school is bigger/larger/smaller than that in their school．

★区分：a number of = many

A number of visitors are interested in the Great Wall．

3．wear uniforms   穿（校）服      【单数形式：wear a uniform】

4．do morning exercises 做早操；  do some exercise 进行锻炼;

do some maths exercises 做一些数学习题

★【exercise作锻炼时不可数，作操或练习题时可数】

5．★have …… off  休假（时间） →  have three days off 休假三天

have more weeks off   有更多的星期休假

6．spend more time doing homework  = spend more time on homework   花更多的时间做作业

7． spend the least time on homework = spend the least time doing homework花最少的时间做作业

8．half an hour for playing computer games 半小时玩电脑游戏

9． another half an hour for playing chess   还有半小时下象棋

10． have only half an hour for my hobbies  只有半小时给我的兴趣爱好

11．at most/at least 至多/至少

12．do some reading/cooking/shopping    阅读/做饭/ 购物
