What did Lucy do last weekend? 原文:Lucy visited the museum with her parents.

技巧:主旨句常以“The main idea/purpose is…”开头。

The room was cluttered—books, clothes, and toys covered the floor. 答案:messy(通过破折号后的描述推断)

标志词:probably/infer/suggest/learn from… Tom forgot his umbrella and got completely wet. 推理:It was raining that day.

转折词(but/however)后的内容常是考点!

积累高频词:整理阅读中反复出现的词汇(如environment/experience)。

Do you like paper-cutting? Do you want to make paper-cuts by yourself? If you are a beginner, the following tips may help you. Step 1 For a basic paper-cut, you’ll first need to start with your design. You can draw this by using a pencil, or you can use a printed template (模板).

Step 2 Place your paper on top of a craft mat (垫子). You should always cut on a craft mat to prevent injury (受伤) and to protect the surface of your table. Or you can easily cut yourself and break the tabletop if you don’t use a mat.

Step 3  Start cutting out your design. Go slowly, watch your hands and fingers and bring the knife or scissors towards you.

Step 4 When you finish, pick up your design and lay it flat on your backing paper to see if you forget to cut anything out. If you do, go back and complete your paper-cutting.

Growing up in a small town in the heart of the countryside, my hometown holds a special place in my heart.

My hometown has rich history. Dating back to the early 1800s, some people came to the countryside from the noisy city and built the town. They tilled (耕种) the land, made the roads and built buildings along them. As I walk down the wide streets, I can see the buildings still stand tall today. By looking back at the town’s history, I always feel so proud.

My hometown is also a lively community, where neighbors greet each other with a smile and lend a helping hand in times of need. From festivals that bring the town together to volunteer chances that make the town better, there is a strong sense of family. Along the streets, there are many local businesses run by hard-working people. They offer places for people to catch up over a cup of coffee or share a meal with friends.

My hometown is rich in natural beauty. The rolling hills surround (包围) the town. In the spring, flowers are everywhere in the town, while in the fall, the leaves turn red and gold. The local park offers a peaceful place where I often rest and connect with nature.

From the Main Street with mom-and-pop shops to the fields that spread as far as the eye can see, every corner of this town is filled with memories of my childhood.

It can be very hot in Yunnan. But the Dai people do not need air conditioners (空调) to keep cool. Their houses usually have two floors. One half of the second floor is the living room. The living room has a balcony. The other half of the second floor is their bedroom. There is a long corridor between the living room and the bedroom.

You must take off your shoes before you go into a Dai family’s house. They like to keep their houses clean. The bed is made of bamboo. What will the home of the future look like? A team of architects (建筑师) in Hong Kong say that houses will be small, as the space is becoming more and more expensive.

They have designed “spaceflats” that are just 30 square metres in size. These flats only have three small rooms: a living room, a bathroom and a bedroom, as well as a balcony, but everything is carefully planned to make good use of the limited space.

The living room is the main room of the flat. It can be used as an office, a kitchen, even a second bedroom. There is a sofa that can be changed into a bed. The dining table can be changed into a computer desk. And, if not needed, both the sofa-bed and the table can be folded away (折叠) and put into a small space in the wall. There is a flat-screen TV, which can also work as a computer monitor. In one of the rooms, a small cooker, a microwave oven and a mini fridge are out of sight.

The other rooms are small but practical. The bathroom has a toilet and a shower. The double bed in the bedroom can also be a sofa. The balcony has enough room for two people to sit and enjoy the view from the block of flats. All the rooms have high ceilings to give as much storage space as possible, while the flat has large windows to let in enough sunlight.

“Spaceflats” are now being tested in a building in Hong Kong. “It’s wonderful,” says one resident (居民). “The flat is so well designed that you feel that there is a lot of space. ”

1.A team of architects in Hong Kong design “spaceflats” because ________

A.this kind of house is modern and beautiful
