It’s not always enjoyable for children to eat vegetables. But what if a garden is built in the school? New study shows that a gardening program in schools can increase (增加) children’s vegetable intake (摄入量).

How the Study Was Carried Out

The study was carried out in eight schools. Each school was in the gardening program for one school year. Every child in grade 3-5 received a total of eighteen 60-minute lessons across the school year. In the program, each school built a garden, where children leaned to grow their own fresh produce, like fruit and vegetables.

The Benefits (益处) Children Could Get

The study found that children’s vegetable intake increased greatly across the year. Not only are there benefits to health, increasing the variety (品种) of vegetables children are exposed (接触) to may also make mealtimes much easier. “Children who are often exposed to different kinds of vegetables are more likely to try new foods”, explains Dr Kerry Jones.

 ▲

Any chance to expose children to more vegetables is meaningful. “If children are learning about vegetables at school, it’s important to encourage (鼓励) this interest,” says Jones. Parents and children can also read books about vegetables together. Besides, a small planter box in a sunny part at home can encourage children to understand more about where their food comes from.

Teaching children to grow their own produce is a great way to increase their preference (喜爱) for the produce. If children are taught to enjoy vegetables early in life ,they will probably go on eating vegetables in the long term.

A.Advice Which Children Could Get at Home

B.Ideas to Encourage Children to Cook at Home

C.Importance for Parents to Understand Children

D.Ways to Expose Children to Vegetables at Home

45.What can we learn from the program?

A.Parents’ help might make children’s reading better.

More and more people enjoy travelling in China now. Some of them would like to take trains for their trips because the train is fast and cheap. But there are also many problems when people take trains. For example, it’s not easy to buy train tickets when it is a festival. Besides it, it takes too much time to go to places far away. People hope such problems can be worked out as soon as possible.

Then, CRH (China Railway High-speed) trains come out. The first CRH train from Beijing to Tianjin ran in August, 2008. There are the letters “CRH” on the head of the trains.    CRH1 and CRH2 can run 200 km/h, and CRH3 can go up to more than 300 km/h. Taking CRH trains is more expensive than taking traditional trains, but cheaper than taking planes. People think CRH trains and their workers are good, and they enjoy the trips by CRH train.

China has made a CRH train, 350 kilometres an hour from Beijing to Shanghai. It can save people more time.

参考答案

1.A

【详解】句意:——桑迪,桌子上的苹果是给你的。记得吃它。——谢谢,我会的。一天一个苹果,医生远离我。

考查冠词的用法。根据“…apple on the table is for you.”可知,第一空特指桌子上的苹果,用the;第二空的句子是一习语,泛指一个苹果,且“apple”以元音音素开头,冠词用an。故选A。

2.A

【详解】句意:——琳达,你的电话一直在响。——哦,我朋友在微信上发的消息。

考查名词辨析。messages消息;news新闻;notices通知;information信息。根据“your phone is ringing all the time”及“on the Wechat”可知,是来自微信的消息,故选A。
