(2025·河南·中考真题)

Putting things off is something a lot of students are troubled with. Between schoolwork, after-school activities and everyday worries, there are too many things you have to deal with every day.     1     You might start falling behind and your grades might get lower.

One smart way to fight back is to break big tasks into tiny pieces. Huge projects can feel like a mountain. But if you cut them into smaller steps, it will make it less scary (可怕的).     2     Just tell yourself, “Today, I’ll choose my topic and write a little. I’ll take care of more tomorrow.” step by step, it gets done.

The “work and rest” way is also a smart choice for being productive. Set a timer for 25 minutes-go all in, full attention.     3     Have some cookies. Walk around. Once you get going, it’s easier to keep it up.

4    Put away your MP3 player and any kind of toys. Find a quiet place where you won’t get interrupted (打扰) at all. The less noise, the better your brain can lock in.

And don’t forget to treat yourself. For example, listen to your favorite song, or watch an interesting TV program. These little things keep you going.     5     Finally, you are sure to see the payoff.

根据材料内容,从下面五个选项中选出能填入文中空缺处的最佳选项,使文章意思通顺、内容完整。

A.Then take a five-minute break.

B.Also, stay away from what pulls your attention.

C.For example, you’ve got to write a five-page paper.

D.But if you keep putting them off, they can snowball.

E.Change doesn’t happen overnight, so stick to it every day.

A mind map is basically a tool that connects information around a central subject. It can help you make a knowledge bank to solve problems. A student recently said, “I thought mind mapping would take a lot of time to do but in fact it saves me time.    21

How to make a mind map? Now follow these steps for making wonderful mind maps.    22    Why? Because starting in the center lets your brain spread out in all directions and express itself more freely and naturally.

Use a picture for your central idea. Why? Because a picture is worth a thousand words and helps you use your imagination.    23    It helps get your attention and makes you work  excitedly!

Connect your main branches (分支) to the central picture and connect your second-and-third-level branches to the first and second levels, etc. Why? Because your brain works by connection.    24    If you connect the branches, you will understand and remember a lot more easily.

Use one key word every line. Why? Because every single key word can make you learn more clearly and easily.

On December 4, 2024, the UNESCO (联合国教科文组织) added the Spring Festival to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (《人类非物质文化遗产代表作名录》).     1

The Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, is one of the most important festivals in China. The Spring Festival is all about family.     2     During the Spring Festival, many people will return to their hometowns from different places and get together with their family. Celebrations for the Spring Festival last for 15 days and always end with the Lantern Festival.

3     It is said that people celebrate at a time when they try to drive away a monster (怪物) by using the red color and setting off fireworks. Red is a symbol of being lucky, peaceful and wealthy. Houses and streets outside have been filled with red silk banners (横幅) and messages of goodwill. Fireworks bring new hope for the future.     4     On New Year’s Eve, people eat dumplings, fish, meatballs and rice cakes for dinner.

Passage2(2025·河南周口·三模)

Before a big competition, if you could choose whether you finish third or second, you will choose second, right?     6

The study from the mid-1990s, based on a study of athletes’ feelings at the Barcelona Olympics, found that bronze medalists (铜牌得主) were much happier than silver medalists.     7     The most popular explanation is that silver medalists have a kind of “imaginary thinking”.     8     For example, the silver medalist of the running event may think that if he had run a little faster, he could have won the gold medal.

However, those in the third place are relieved (感到宽慰的) that they managed to get a medal. Among gold and bronze medalists, the better their performances were, the happier they looked. But this wasn’t the case for silver medalists.     9     A study of athletes at the Rio Olympics actually found very small differences in the happiness shown by silver and bronze medalists. But their post-competition (赛后) interviews showed it is really disappointing to come second. The silver medalists showed their disappointment by talking much more about what might have been.

In short, if you ever find yourself sad in the second place, try thinking more like the bronze medalists.     10     In daily life, you can also learn from bronze medalists. Instead of thinking about what you are short of, be happy that you have performed as well as you did!

根据材料内容,从下面五个选项中选出能填入文中空缺处的最佳选项,使短文意思通顺、内容完整。

A.However, a study has shown an unexpected result.

B.This way of thinking isn’t just in the field of sports.

C.Of course, gold medalists were always the happiest ones.

D.They often imagine what might have been if they had pushed harder.

E.Perhaps because the better they perform, the more they regret not having won.
