一、记叙文阅读,10篇

Louis Agassiz Fuertes was born in 1874. He was an artist. He was also a naturalist. A naturalist is someone who studies nature(自然). Naturalists want to take care of our natural resources(资源).

Louis loved birds when he was a little boy. He drew many pictures of them. His father showed him pictures of birds. Those pictures were drawn by John James Audubon. He was a naturalist, too.

Louis’s father was from Puerto Rico. He was a teacher at a college. His father wanted Louis to go to college, too. But Louis didn’t do very well in college. Louis was not sad. He knew he wanted to paint birds for a living.

In college Louis met another artist and learned more about painting from him. Then, Louis went to Alaska. He studied and drew birds. He looked for birds that were new to him. Louis made notes about the new birds that he drew.

Louis was always looking for new birds to paint. He often painted birds that were dead, but sometimes he studied birds that were still alive. He went to many places to learn more about birds. He taught others a lot about birds.

Louis made his birds look real. He made sketches(草图) of over 400 different kinds of birds. He even made murals(壁画) for a museum. He died in 1927. He was a famous painter of birds during his lifetime.

One day, Jerry sold me to a baker with the words, “The food is good there and the work is fair. But I often carried very heavy loads(负荷). In the end they bought a younger horse, and sold me to a cab owner.”

My new master, Nicholas Skinner, was horrible. He had black eyes and a large nose. His horses didn’t have a rest on Sundays, even in summer in the city, when it was very hot.

Still, I did my best. But my life was now so bad that I wanted to die. And one day my wish nearly came true. We collected a family from the railway station. My driver put case after case on top of the cab. The load was very heavy, and I was hungry and exhausted(极其疲惫的). I did my best, but I fell to the ground. I really thought that I was going to die.

The vet came to look at me. He checked me very carefully and said, “This horse is not ill. He is simply too exhausted from overwork. Give him a rest for six months and he’ll be fine.”

Nicholas Skinner said, “If he can’t work, I need to sell him.” And so twelve days after the accident they took me to the horse fair. I held my head high, and hoped for the best.

How do you deal with your rubbish when you are outside? Do you sort(分类)rubbish before throwing it away?

When my children were younger, we used to walk a graveled trail(碎石小道)around the lake near our home.

One spring day my daughter and I noticed just how much rubbish was lying along the trail. So the next day we brought a big rubbish bag with us and started to pick up the rubbish along our way slowly, step by step.   There were pop cans(易拉罐), wrapper for candy bars, plastic(塑料的)water bottles, empty chip bags, pieces of broken fishing line and even an old worn-out shoe. We stopped and picked up each one and even fished a few pieces of rubbish out of the edge(边)of the water. By the time we had circled the lake, the bag was nearly full.

We stopped before we headed home and took one last look at the lake as the sun set. It looked more beautiful than ever.

I know that at times this world’s problems can seem overwhelming and you wonder what you can do to make a difference. But the truth is everything you do makes a difference! Every time you stop to pick up a single piece of rubbish, you make a difference in the world. Every smile you share makes a difference. Every kind word you say makes a difference. Every loving thought you think, every hug you share, every flower you plant, every animal you save, everything you do, no matter how small, makes a difference in this world.

Therefore, make your difference today from doing things like picking up a piece of rubbish.

During my second year in high school, I got sick and missed classes for three days. When I went back to school, I needed to finish a lot of homework and some tests (测试). So I had to stay up really late to finish them all that night.
