二、完形填空 (15小题,每小题1分,计15)

In the 1960s, a musical group composed a popular song called Monday: “Every other day of the week is fine. But     11     Monday comes, you can find me    12    all of the time.” When talking about days of the week, Monday gets    13    expectation. I surveyed friends, and the    14    were very clear. When asking which day of the week they like the least, 90 percent of them chose Monday. I disagree with them all. In fact, I think Monday is actually the best day of the week.

15    , consider all the good things that happen on Mondays. For example, quite a few public holidays are     16     on Mondays. Then Monday is the best day to do shopping because there aren’t so many people shopping. Experts say that you can also get the best online deal s(交易) on Mondays. This is     17     true for electronics, such as computers, TVs, and video games.

To me, however, there’s something even more    18    about Mondays. Each Monday    19    a new beginning. For example, last week I got behind on my homework and had to     20     going to a movie with my friends on the weekend. But     21     Monday arrived, I could start all over again.

I also love Mondays because we usually start new lessons at school at the beginning of the week. While last week’s topics may be     22    , Monday can bring a new book to read, or math problems to solve. Besides, I always become full of energy on Mondays after getting enough sleep at weekends.

I realize that I am probably not going to make everyone believe that Monday is the best day of the week, but hopefully I can     23     a few people to change. The next time a Monday comes, think about all the good things that could happen and look forward to the day instead of    24    it.

There’s no way to     25     Mondays, so join me in making the best of them. Who knows? You might even start liking the first day of the workweek.

11.A.whatever         B.wherever                C.whenever                D.however

三、阅读理解(20小题,每小题2分,计40)

Writer Liz Pichon, known for her bestselling Tom Gates series for children, shares the books that shaped her.

Reading this as a child was a life-changing moment. My mum’s friend bought me this book to improve my spelling skills. She thought it would make me laugh. It really did. And it stuck in my memory a lot. I love the drawings — they planted a seed (种子) in my head somewhere that pictures and words go together and can be really funny.
This book is so tiny and thin, but I loved that it had all these silly poems inside with rich attractive drawings and it made me want to write rhymes, and to have a go at drawing. After buying this in a local bookshop, I started reading it. I’m always including silly poems in my books and I think that’s certainly down to the influence of this book.

This book has a special meaning for me. When I had to come up with a story for my homework, I could just change the plot (情节) of Jaws a little. My teacher would never know. He thought it was amazing. My stepmother’s (继母) enthusiasm (热情), the strong wish and interest to do everything, made me move toward the success.

I was nine years old when she entered our home in the countryside of Virginia. My father introduced me to her with these words: “I would like you to meet the guy who is well known for being the worst boy in this town. And he will probably start throwing rocks at you no later than tomorrow morning.”

My stepmother walked over to me, raised my head slightly upward, and looked at me right into my eyes. Then she looked at my father and replied, “You are wrong. He’s not at all the way you said, but the smartest one who hasn’t yet found a way to give out his enthusiasm.”

She changed many things. She advised my father to go to a dental school. She moved our family into the town centre, where my father’s career could be more successful and my brother and I could be better educated.

When I turned fourteen, she bought me a secondhand typewriter and told me that she believed that I could become a writer. I knew her enthusiasm, and I saw how it had already improved our lives. Cai Jiekai has spent around 80,000 yuan on his face since his first plastic surgery (整形手术) four years ago. “Getting plastic surgeries is just as usual as body building. Both make men more handsome and confident,” says the 33-year-old young man.

Cai is among a growing number of Chinese men using plastic surgeries to change their physical appearance to increase their self-confidence. In 2021, the market for beauty medicine in China was worth more than 495 billion yuan. Around 15 percent of customers were males, according to a report by plastic surgery social networking app Gengmei.

There is a rising trend (潮流) of young men turning to plastic surgeries; most male customers are in their teens or 20s. “Some men just want to please themselves, while others hope to improve their possibility in job hunting or dating,” says Wang Jun, vice-president of marketing for Gengmei. “Men are under the same social stress as women and their confidence and competitiveness would be more or less weakened by facial and body weaknesses.”

However, experts point out the risks of plastic surgeries. Fan Jufeng, director of the Plastic Surgery Department at Beijing Chaoyang Hospital, does not encourage people, no matter men or women, to “blindly” go under the knife.

Fan also warned the public of the bad influences of live streaming celebrities (流量明星) who spread the misunderstanding that being pretty goes above all else. “Whether to have plastic surgeries is a personal choice, but people should not be addicted (上瘾) to it,” Fan says. “Think twice on it. After all, a rich and beautiful inside world is far more important than a pretty face.”

A special popular dance has attracted attention widely. There are two stories about the origin (起源) of “Subject Three”. One story connects the dance to a wedding in Wuzhou, where guests danced as part of the celebrations. The other story suggests Guangxi local people go through three tests in their life: singing folk songs (“Subject One”) , slurping rice noodles (“Subject Two”) , and dancing (“Subject Three”) .  ①

Why has “Subject Three” dance become so popular around the world? Some experts said the key to the success of “Subject Three” lies in its simplicity, which allows people to copy and take part. Hopefully, in the future, more stories like “Subject Three” will be heard by the world.

A.Everybody in Wuzhou can dance “Subject Three”.

A.①                         B.②                         C.③                          D.④

43.Why does the writer speak of Psy’s “Gangnam Style” in Paragraph 3?

A.To help prove his ideas.

B.To show how popular it is .

参考答案

1.C

【详解】句意:——打扰一下,我能把车停在这里吗?——抱歉,街上挤满了人。你不能把车停在街道的两边。

考查代词。both两者都;none全无;either(两者中)任意一个;neither两者都不。根据“Sorry, the street is crowded with people. You can’t park your car on...side of it.”和常识可知,街道是两边,故排除选项B;both后接名词复数,不符合语境,故排除;此处指“街道两边的任意一边都不能停车”,句子为否定句,either符合语境。故选C。
