In the US, “give me five” or “give me the high five” is a popular gesture(手势). You can see it often in films or on TV. It means slapping(拍)of each other’s raised(举起的)right hands together.

People do it when they meet for the first time or something happy happens. For example, a student has good marks in exams or wins a lottery ticket(彩票). If a football team wins a game, the players will give high fives to everyone around to celebrate.

Madison Checketts loves beaches. But she often sees the sand covered with plastic (塑料的)bottles. “This needed to change,” she told Smithsonian magazine.

The 12-year-old from the US made a new kind of water bottle. People can actually eat it! The idea comes from the “popping boba (爆爆珠)” in bubble tea drinks. A thin piece of jelly (胶状物) keeps the juice inside.

Checketts learned how to make this online. She put some chemicals (化学物质) together. Then she froze (冷冻) them to make the jelly. After some tries, she made her own palm-sized(手掌大小的) “bubble” with water inside!

People can bite (咬) a hole(洞) at the top of the bubble, drink the water and then either eat the “bottle” or throw it away. It can break down without polluting the environment. Checketts said the bottle felt like a gummy bear (小熊软糖) and tasted a little sweet.

In the future, Checketts will run more tests to make the water bottle stronger and bigger. She wants her water bottle to be used during marathons(马拉松) – as runners stop for water, they can get a bubble, drink the water and either eat or throw the bubble. “I hope people can understand that everyone can make the world a better place,” she said.

The Lion took them on his back to jump across the ditch(沟), he was tired after his five big jumps. Later in the afternoon they came to a wide river. They could see a beautiful country on the other side of it. There were green fields and a lot of flowers. They could also see the yellow brick road.

“Easy!” the Scarecrow (稻草人)said. “The Tin Woodman will use his axe to build a raft(木筏)。”

“This is very bad,” the Tin Woodman said. “We’re going towards the land of the Wicked Witch of the West” “We must go back and find the yellow brick road,” the Scarecrow said. He pushed his pole very hard into the mud but it got stuck. He couldn’t pull it out again! The raft moved away and he was still holding his pole in the middle of the river.
