专题10 阅读理解之说明文

Do you know how to cook, clean or grow plants? If not, you will soon.

A new standard (标准) for labor education (劳动教育) recently came out. Students in primary and middle school will have at least one class a week to try different kinds of labor and learn different life skills and even job skills. The standard has different tasks for each grade. For example, students in the fifth grade and sixth grade learn to cook two or three common dishes, like fried eggs or scrambled eggs with tomatoes.

This move is to enrich (丰富) Chinese students’ life and build their character (品行) through labor. Chinese school education didn’t pay enough attention (关注) to this in the past. According to a 2019 report. Chinese kids only do 12 minutes of practical (实践的) activity each day, while US kids do 1.2 hours each day. China Daily reported.

The standard also calls on families to take part in students’ labor education. They will make household lists to help students be more independent (独立的).

In addition to household skills students will have a chance to try new technologies like 3D printing and laser cutting. They will also learn to make traditional handicrafts.

According to Tongcheng Travel, the number of searches on camping during the May Day holiday this year increased (增加) by 117% from April. Forests and islands were the two most popular places.

Ji Nan, from Zhejiang, went camping with her friends in the mountains during the holiday. “It was relaxing,” Ji said. She thinks camping is a good way to get closer to nature and enjoy outdoor activities.

However, the demand for campsites (露营地) is greater than the supply(供应量). “There are too many people around. Everywhere is full and there is a tent every several meters,” a camper from Beijing said.

Besides, camping isn’t always good for the local environment. In Beijing’s Shuangfeng campsite. some of the land is barren (贫瘠的) from too much foot traffic. Rubbish, like bamboo barbecue sticks and disposable (一次性的) plates, could be seen everywhere.
