A doctor entered the hospital hurriedly after being called in for an important surgery (外科手术) . He found the boy’s father in the hall waiting worriedly.

On seeing him, the father cried out, “Why did you spend all this time coming?   Don’t you know that my son is in danger? Don’t you have any sense of duty?”

Every day I pass by a homeless old man on the street. He usually sits near where I go to school. Whenever I pass by, he says “hello” in a cheerful manner, and I always say it back. I give him any extra(多余的)change I have.

It was the first day of third grade. Samuel sat in the classroom and he already knew most of the students in his class.

In the back of the classroom was a face that Samuel didn’t know. There sat a boy with dark hair and glasses.

Mr Dale called the students by their names. “Ho Ming?” said Mr Dale. The boy in the back put up his hand. Ho Ming was from China. His family moved to the United States during the summer. Ho Ming seemed shy.
