Once a tortoise (乌龟) and two swans (天鹅) lived on a lake. They were very good friends. They spent many hours happily together.
To their bad luck, there was no rain that year. The lake became dry. So they had to leave the lake in search of another one to live.
The two swans could fly easily, but for the tortoise it was difficult. The three of them began to wonder, unsure of what to do next.
At last, the two swans had an idea. They said to the tortoise, “We will place a stick (棍子) in your mouth. We will carry the stick in our beaks (鸟嘴) on either side. This will make us fly together. But remember, you must not open your mouth. If you do, you know what will happen to you.”
The tortoise was sad to leave the lake, but it agreed to the idea happily.

Do you know how rice first came to China? There is an old Chinese story. It is about a little girl who went out to fish. There was famine (饥荒) and everybody was very hungry. The little girl felt her net growing heavy and was very happy. However, it was the King of Frogs (青蛙) that she caught. The frog told her to hold out her fishing net under the sun and he would sing a magic song. The little girl followed his words. She was greatly surprised to see the sunshine falling through the net. And it changed into golden grains (谷粒) of rice. The first rice arrived in this way.
We do not know whether this story is true, but it tells us that rice has the same importance as gold to the Chinese. Rice is always the main food for the Chinese. For centuries, much land has been devoted (奉献) to rice-planting and many Chinese people are farmers, who work very hard for each grain.
It’s important to save food and say no to waste (浪费). After all, waste not, want not.

In ancient times, no moon was in sky. The sky was black.
Once upon a time, four men went in a carriage (马车) to a trip. They reached another country when it was dark, they saw a tall tree with a ball of soft silver light hanging from it. They asked a villager, “Is that a light on the tree?”. The villager told them that it was a moon which their chief had bought with 3 coins.
At midnight, the four man stole the moon and put it in their carriage, covering it with a piece of clothing. They carried the moon to their country and hung it on a tall tree. Since then the night were bright and moonlit, so all the people were happy.
Many years later, one of the men was ill and dying, he said that a quarter of the moon belonged to him. And he wanted to take it away. When he died, they cut a quarter of the moon to put into his tomb. The other three men also wanted to take their part of the moon when they died. So it was done as they wished. When the last one died the sky was dark again.
In the heaven, the four men put the moon back together. The people in heaven sang, danced,drank and enjoyed themselves. Their noise spread throughout heaven. The guard, St. Peter, thought the dead was fighting, he took his horse and rode quickly to the place. When he got there, he commanded the dead to lie in their tombs. He took away the moon to hang back in the sky. From this time on, the moon belonged to all the people on earth.
