What color do you like wearing? Do you know “dopamine dressing (多巴胺穿搭)”? It was one of the fashions in 2023. However, is there any science behind this?

“Dopamine dressing” was from the book Dress Your Best Life. American fashion psychologist (心理学家), Dawnn Karen wrote this book in 2020. In the book “dopamine dressing” is about wearing colorful clothes to get more dopamine.

Dopamine is something in our brain (大脑). It makes people feel good. Our brain gives it out when we eat delicious food, play with our pets, listen to our favorite songs, after we exercise or when we win a game.

In Science Focus Magazine, some studies showed a relationship (关系) between the colors of the clothes we wear and how we act and feel. One study found that wearing red can make it easier to take action (采取行动). It also showed bright colors can make people feel active (积极的). One more study showed that wearing green can make people feel comfortable because it is the color of nature. Yellow, the color of summer, can bring people happiness. But there are some problems with these studies, because people from different cultures have different ideas about dressing and colors.

In a word, “dopamine dressing” shows that we can wear colorful clothes to get more dopamine and feel good. Dressing is more than just a fashion. It’s also a way of showing ourselves.

“Are you an ‘i-person’ or an ‘e-person’?” This question has been talked about by many young people online recently. It’s part of a popular personality (性格) test called MBTI.

The MBTI test divides people into sixteen personality types, such as INFJ, INTP, ESTP and ESFJ. “I” or “E” is the first letter. People are either “I”, usually quiet, or “E”, usually outgoing. But sometimes an “i-person” seems to be outgoing. For example, an “i-person” maybe talks much with a group of quieter friends than him or her.

It seems interesting for many young people to use the MBTI result to describe someone’s personality. I once took the result seriously. But one day, I was surprised to see my sister Lucy making a study plan for the summer holiday. She is a “p-person” according to the test result. “P-persons” usually don’t like to make plans. “I thought you were a ‘p-person’,” I said. “Why do I need to follow what my personality test tells me? It’s just for fun,” she answered. Yes, she was right. The test was just for fun.

Maybe, the MBTI personality test tells you something about someone. And it can also be a way to start up a talk when you meet new friends. However, the four letters don’t tell you everything about a person. Don’t let the MBTI result tell you who you are.

A.2.                    B.4.                          C.8.                          D.16.

A.The writer dislikes making plans.          B.The writer’s sister doesn’t take the MBTI test seriously. C.The writer was surprised to know his sister’s test result.       D.The writer thinks it’s stupid to use the MBTI result to describe a person.

19.What can we learn about the MBTI personality test?

A.It is completely unscientific.

B.It is one of the best ways to get to know someone.

C.It can help you know everything about someone.

D.It is something you can talk about when making friends.

20.Where can we read this passage?

A.In a dictionary. B.In a diary.              C.In a magazine.        D.In a history book.
