What’s Anti-Bullying Day (反霸凌日)?
Anti-Bullying Day is a special day when people talk about bullying and what we can do to stop it. A lot of children take part in activities at school and online to learn about what bullying means and what we can do if we see it happening.
When is Anti-Bullying Day?
The date of Anti-Bullying Day is different in different countries. In many places, it’s on 4 May (United Nations Anti-Bullying Day). In the UK, Anti-Bullying Week takes place every November. Every day of the year, it’s important to stand up against bullying.
What exactly is bullying?
Often bullying happens when one person has more power than the other person — perhaps they’re bigger or older, or they have more friends. When someone uses their power to hurt another person on purpose, especially more than once, that’s bullying.
Bullying can be with words (saying mean things) or it can be physical (hitting, pushing or taking someone’s things). Leaving someone out of a group or ignoring (忽视) them again and again is also bullying.
How can we stand up against bullying?
If someone is bullying you, you could ignore them, tell them to stop or walk away. Pretend that you don’t care and try to look confident, even if you don’t feel it. Tell a friend or a classmate what’s happening and ask them to help or talk to your parents, a teacher or another adult you trust.
If you see someone else being bullied, never join in with the bullying or laugh at it. That will make it worse. Instead, be an ‘upstander’—help and support the person who is being bullied. Tell a trusted adult about the bullying. If we all stand up against bullying, we can make it stop.
34.What is the main purpose of Anti-Bullying Day?
A.To remind children to be kind.
B.To organize special activities at school.
C.To discuss bullying and the ways to stop bullying.
D.To encourage children to take part in activities.
35.Which of the following is a form of bullying?

C.Hurt the other person by accident. D.Push someone on purpose repeatedly.
36.Which of the following proverbs can best show the writer’s idea against bullying?
A.A friend in need is a friend indeed. B.Act bravely for a just cause.

Have you ever paid for educational podcasts (播客) or live videos? Ask some people and most of them will say yes. “Pay-for-knowledge” has been more and more fashionable these years. The contents of these “pay-for-knowledge” products are from language learning to gardening or baby-caring. Almost everything you need can be found online at this moment. “Pay-for-knowledge” is on the rise (兴起).
Why is “pay-for-knowledge” industry developing so rapidly? First, its development is based on the Internet. With a fast network and a smartphone, anyone who has passed the identity (身份) check can be an online teacher, and anyone with an online account can buy “pay-for-knowledge” products. Second, people are afraid to miss any information. On one hand, people hope for more useful information. On the other hand, such information is usually at the hands of experts who serve famous companies and universities. Moreover, the need to learn new skills in today’s job market also pushes people to learn on such educational podcasts.
The industry of “pay-for-knowledge” has proved to be lucrative. It promises possibilities of turning information into money. It is good for the development of our country and it can help sellers make lots of money. Besides, buyers can enjoy self-growth from it. What’s more, this is a reflection (反映) of respect for knowledge and talents.
However, the rapid rise of “pay-for-knowledge” has a few problems. For one thing, the market is full of eye-catching words such as “How to be an Industry’s Expert in 5 Hours” and “15 Classes to Be a Master of Appreciating (欣赏) Classical Music”, which sound like if you pay for it, you are sure to succeed. For another, a large number of customers buy them just for showing off. In fact, those who have really had self-growth after buying online courses may be the kind of people who need them least. In other words, with or without these courses, they can make it anyway, because they are those who have the ability to learn by themselves.
In general, the best is the one that suits you most. “Pay-for-knowledge” may be used as a good start for self-growth. Be careful! Otherwise, your dream of success may not come true.

“Why do I live? Why do I wish for anything, or do anything? Is there anything in my life that will not be destroyed by my death?” Like Leo Tolstoy, the famous Russian writer, many people ask these difficult questions. Tolstoy spent his whole life trying to answer these difficult questions.
As a young man, he thought people could achieve perfection if they tried hard enough. So he worked very hard to be the best in everything. He thought that he would find meaning and truth in success.
In 1850s, Tolstoy wrote his first stories. He wrote about his life in the army (军队). He also told stories about his childhood. These works were published and Tolstoy became a well-known writer.
He earned the respect he always wanted. Many rich and smart men met and talked with Tolstoy. Some of them were writers like him. They talked a lot about faith (信仰) and the meaning of life. But soon Tolstoy realized that these men were not perfect. Now he knew they could not answer his questions about faith.
So in the 1860s, Tolstoy tried a different way to find the meaning of life. He opened a school for the children of his serfs—the people who worked on his land. These workers were very poor. He wanted to help them because he thought they were more honest than the rich people he knew.
Tolstoy learned a lot from his workers. He understood how they worked hard to support their families. He began to believe that marriage and family would give his life meaning. So in 1862, Leo Tolstoy married a young woman named Sonya Behrs.
The next 15 years were the best years of Tolstoy’s life. It was during this time that he wrote his most famous books—War and Peace and Anna Karenina. Many experts say that War and Peace is one of the greatest books ever written. In these books, Tolstoy believed humans should live a simple life and take care of their families. Tolstoy thought this would satisfy him and bring him the greatest happiness.
Leo Tolstoy is still a very respected writer today. His faith and writings have influenced many people all over the world.
