Damoqiu was listed in 2016 as an intangible cultural heritage in Longlin county, Guangxi.
Master’s story
For the Yi ethnic group, damoqiu is a traditional sport and celebration during festivals. Li Jingming started playing it at the age of 5.
“Many people simply play damoqiu for fun,” said the 61-year-old. “Yet, taking it as a professional sport is more a game of bravery (勇敢).”
According to Li, since the horizontal pole only hangs on the standing pole, it’s always spinning (旋转), making it hard for performers to keep balance. “If you’re lacking in strength, it’s easy to tilt (倾斜) and you may even slip down from the pole. Sometimes, it’s even dangerous”, added Li.
Besides bravery, as a professional sport, damoqiu also needs great effort and patience.
Training for a new posture sometimes requires more than 10 days. “Repetition (重复) is part of our daily routine (惯例). Though it’s boring, it is worth our effort to keep the tradition alive,” Li said.
As more and more young people leave villages to earn money in the big cities, they have less time to train on the pole and develop new postures. “It’s a pity that damoqiu is disappearing from the competitive stage now”, said Li, adding that he has only had five disciples (徒弟) in training during the last fifty years.
To make damoqiu known to more people, Li not only teaches it in schools voluntarily, but also perform in many competitions to show the sport’s charm (魅力).
“As long as I live, I will continue the mission (使命) of passing on the skills of damoqiu to future generations,” said Li.
31.What do we know about damoqiu?
A.It is a traditional sport in Northwest China.
B.It requires at least three people to play.
C.It became an intangible cultural heritage recently.
D.People have to keep balance on the horizontal pole.
32.What does Li think is important for playing damoqiu as a professional sport?
A.Passion and good athletic ability.
B.Patience, creativity and energy.
C.Great effort, patience and courage.
D.Strength and relevant previous experience.
33.In the master’s story, Paragraph 6 is mainly about ________.
A.the difficulties of passing down damoqiu
B.the good development of damoqiu
C.the reasons why young people leave villages
D.young people’s views on damoqiu
34.How does Li promote damoqiu?

How much water is there on the moon? This is a question scientists have tried to answer for years. Scientists from China and the UK have now discovered that the moon may have plenty of water, according to a recent paper.
Over billions of years, space rocks have hit the surface of the moon, causing the soil to melt (融化) and be pushed out suddenly into space. It is then cooled down and falls back to the lunar surface, forming beads (珠子) of glass.
The Chang’e 5 probe, which returned to Earth on Dec 17, 2020, brought back a total of 1,731 grams of rocks and soil from the lunar surface, including glass beads, reported Xinhua.
The international research team looked into the 32 glass beads. They found that about one ton of glass beads may include 0.5 kilograms of water. “This ‘water’ was in the form of hydrogen (氢气) included in the glass beads, which can easily be turned into the water we can use,” Hui Hejiu, one of the study authors said. Researchers thought that the water included in the glass beads could reach as much as 270 trillion kilograms.
The solar wind could be the source of the water in the beads, according to the study. The glass beads have lots of holes inside to catch hydrogen from the wind.
If the water in the beads is easy to get, it will be a “really big deal” for space exploration, Phil Bland, an expert in Australia said. At present, water used by astronauts during their long stays in space stations is recycled. The urine (尿液) produced and water used by an astronaut per day is about 2 kilograms. They are collected and purified (净化), and then provided to astronauts to drink. With this new finding, human settlements on the moon could have plenty of water in the future.
36.The underlined word “it” in Paragraph 2 refers to ________.
A.the melted soil B.the space rock C.the solar wind D.the Chang’e probe
37.According to the passage, eight tons of glass beads may include ________ kilograms of water.
A.1731 B.32 C.4 D.270
38.What may be the source of the water in the glass beads?
A.The solar wind.
B.The lunar atmosphere.
C.Melting ice on the lunar surface.
D.Space rocks on the lunar surface.
39.What is the present method for getting water for astronauts in space?
A.By melting the ice from space rocks.
B.By taking water from solar wind.
C.By taking water out of the lunar soil.
D.By purifying urine and water used by astronauts.
40.Why is the discovery important for space exploration?
A.It could help to find life on the moon.
B.It means growing plants in space is possible.
C.It means astronauts could get water from the moon.
D.It could help make water recycling easier in space.

①What do a student in China, an office worker in the UK and an astronaut in space all have in common? They all eat instant noodles (方便面). And they’re not alone—over 100 billion servings (一份) of instant noodles are sold around the world each year, making them one of the world’s most successful industrial foods (大规模生产的加工食品). But how did this happen?
②Put simply, they’re cheap to produce and cheap to buy, which was exactly what their creator (发明者) expected. Momofuku Ando, a Japanese businessman, spent a year improving the recipe (配方) just after the Second World War. He wanted to make something similar to traditional Japanese ramen noodles (拉面). He used the wheat flour (面粉) donated to Japan by the US government. His creation was quickly popular, playing an important role in Japan’s economic (经济) rise after the war. Even in the year 2000 – according to a poll by the Fuji Research Institute – instant noodles were voted Japan’s most successful invention. They were much more popular than high-speed trains, laptops or karaoke.
③But Japanese people are not alone in their devotion to instant noodles. According to the World’s Instant Noodles Association, China, Indonesia, Vietnam (越南) and India—in that order—the sales of instant noodles in these countries were all bigger than Japan in 2021. Instant noodles’ popularity abroad simply depends on how easy they are to adapt to (适应) local tastes. In Thailand, for example, you can get green curry flavour (味道), while in Mexico the noodles are decorated with lime and salsa. And it seems that buyers have grown to expect new creation. Nissin, the food company set up by Ando, created over 300 products yearly, just in Japan, according to employee Kasura Suzuki.
④Different from those who love instant noodles, Some people do not like the noodles very much. Their rise in popularity has come at an environmental cost—they’re made with palm oil (棕榈油), as a result, more trees are cut down. Also, their packaging is plastic. And while they are a hot, tasty and filling meal, instant noodles don’t have much nutritional (营养的) value, and include high levels of salt and fat. Anyway, instant noodles are undoubtedly lifesavers in emergency or extreme (极端) situations.
⑤More than 60 years after their invention, instant noodles have become the default (默认) food for anyone short on money, time, or even a kitchen.
41.How many servings of instant noodles are eaten around the world yearly?
A.Over 100 billion. B.More than 60. C.Over 300. D.2000.
42.What kind of Instant noodles did the creator want to make?
A.Nutritional. B.Salty. C.Cheap. D.Convenient (方便).
43.The sales of the instant noodles depend on how well people like the noodles. Which country ate the most instant noodles in 2021? Please choose the correct order.
A.Japan > India > China > Indonesia > Vietnam
B.India > China >Japan > Indonesia > Vietnam
C.China > India > Vietnam > Indonesia > Japan
D.China > Indonesia > Vietnam > India >Japan
44.What can we learn about instant noodles from the passage?
A.People around the world all eat instant noodles.
B.The more people eat instant noodles, the more trees may be cut down.
C.Only people short of money, time, or even a kitchen choose instant noodles.
D.A Japanese businessman made instant noodles the same as traditional Japanese ramen noodles.
45.What is the correct structure for the passage?

How will geography influence your life? For some children around the world, the environment they grow up in has a huge effect on their lives. This is the case in Madagascar, an island country in Africa, where a 3D-printed school is now being built.
Maggie Grout was just 15 years old when she set up a non-profit (非盈利的) organization-Thinking Huts. Now 22, she is raising money to build a series of 3D-printed school powered by solar energy. Maggie took the lead role and worked with university professors through the whole process of building the 3D-printed school. They chose Madagascar because it needs more schools. Many children in that country don’t have the chance to receive education. Besides, it has a lot of sunshine, which can be made into energy to power things.
Maggie first drew a design for the school. She thought about what things the people needed and where they worked best.
Next, Maggie found an architect (建筑师) and 3D printing company for the job. To make it environmentally friendly, they use a special 3D printer to build the school. It meant up to 50 percent less concrete (混凝土) used and less CO2. Plus, the school could be completed in just a week. They also used local materials to build the doors, windows and roof.
What’s more, Thinking Huts will get local workers to learn how to use a 3D printer so that they can build more schools on their own in the future. Maggie plans to print more new schools in other parts of Madagascar because one in five children don’t have primary school to attend there.
