四、阅读理解. (共20题,每小题2分,计40分)

(A)

There’s much to see under the sea, but you need to remember that light behaves (表现)differently in water than in air. The objects(物体) seem closer to you than they exactly are. You might find yourself reaching out to touch something and completely missing it.

Objects under water will seem larger than they would on the surface (表面) too. Be careful not to tell any stories about the big fish that got away. That fish might not be so big after all! It’s just because sometimes things can seem to be as much as about 33 per cent bigger in water!

What’s more, in deeper water, colours just don’t seem as bright. In fact, it looks as if some colours are missing. Remember the colour of an object results from the wavelengths (波长) of light that are reflected (反射) from its surface. And light is taken in as it moves down through the water.

Swimmers wear wet suits to keep warm underwater. Let’s take a bright red, yellow and blue wet suit as an example. These colours are hard to miss on the surface of water. Watch carefully the changes in colour as you descend in the water. The red part now looks almost black because the red light wavelengths, the longest among these three colours, are missing. As you go down deeper, the same thing will happen to the yellow part and in the end to the blue part. Even at a place of about 6 to 9 metres. underwater, you will look terrible, like a ghost! And you have to wait for your return to the surface to enjoy the bright colours again!

(  )51. You miss the object underwater when you want to touch it because _________ .

A. your eyesight is quite poor           B. you are not quick enough

C. it is not as close as it seems     D. it disappears(消失) very quickly

A. A four-metre-long fish looks three metres long underwater.

B. The wavelengths of red light are longer than those of blue light.

C. Much water will be taken in by the swimmer deep in the water.

D. You will see a ghost if you go as deep as 6 to 9 metres into the sea.

(  )55. The best title for this passage is_________.

A. The Size of Colour Underwater         B. The Direction of Light Underwater

六、任务型阅读(每空一词,每小题1分,共计10分)

Many students think about how to make the best use of their time while studying. But what comes before study can be important too﹣especially if you want to improve your memory of what you have learned.

Exercise

Doing aerobic(有氧的)exercise before you study may help you better remember what you learn.Other studies suggest the importance of different kinds of exercise.

A study shows that a group of young people who did 15 minutes of high﹣intensity(高强度的)training remembered more words. Some studies have also shown high﹣intensity exercise can help improve the memory of old people.High﹣intensity exercise may be so helpful. Both long, slow exercise and high﹣intensity exercise may have good influences(影响) on memory.

Location

Location is also important for improving your learning. While it is good to have a desk or a special study area, someone suggests that changing the place where you study could help you remember more of what you study. The reason is that our memories sometimes depend on(取决于) things in our environment. For example,a book might make you think of something interesting or strange when you read it.You do not have to change locations every day,but try to at least sometimes.

Prestudy

A third way you can improve your study is taking a pre﹣study test.It is one of the best ways if it’s difficult for you to remember new information. In 2018,research workers found that those who took a pre﹣study test before they learn a new material did much better than after studying the material. The students failed on the tests. But they were better able to remember the material than those who were only asked to read the information.
